The Washington Commanders faced an early setback when rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels left the game with a rib injury during the first quarter against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Before his exit, Daniels had rushed for 50 yards and completed 2 of 2 passes for 6 yards. The team announced at halftime that the 23-year-old would not return for the remainder of the game.
It remains unclear on which specific play Daniels was injured, but it occurred during the Commanders’ opening drive.
Head coach Dan Quinn indicated that the medical team will conduct further tests on Daniels on Monday to assess the severity of his injury.
